Great sounding combination! Wired via USB. Rivo + powered by SBOOSTER BOTW POWER & PRECISION ECO MK2 works great. Qobuz Connect works very stable and fast (same with VolumioOS) So it’s a severe upgrade coming from Bluesound in any case ! The stage becomes larger and wider. Whole system is more silent than before.
@volumio team: Great Hardware & Software! Well done ! I like it much much more than slow BluOS xxxxx…
I’m just writing this if somebody out there is searching for a review. Unfortunately there is not too much to find in the internet.
Just got the chance to test the Volumio Rivo+ powered by the Sbooster BOTW Power & Precision ECO MK2 5V along with the RME ADI-2 FS DAC (with RME DPS-2) — and I must say, this combo is seriously impressive!
The Rivo+, when paired with the Sbooster, brings an incredible level of clarity and realism to the playback. There’s a noticeable drop in the noise floor, making micro-details in the music more audible — especially in quiet passages. The linear power supply upgrade makes a more significant difference than I initially expected. Vocals and acoustic instruments sound more natural and open.
Pairing it with the RME ADI-2 FS DAC, powered by the RME DPS-2, takes it to another level. The ADI-2 is already known for its transparency and flexibility, but with the DPS-2, dynamics feel tighter, and the overall sound gains a bit more depth and weight. Bass feels slightly more controlled and punchy, without losing detail.
For anyone considering this setup, I highly recommend it. The synergy between Volumio’s streamer and RME’s DAC, especially when both are fed clean power, is something you have to hear to fully appreciate. It’s a minimalist yet high-performance digital chain.
Anyone else tried this combo? Would love to hear impressions with different genres or headphones.
I interesting observations. RME themselves claim there is no audible difference/improvement when using their linear power supply. It is intended to solve some problems that occasionally, in some cases, when attaching to the mains.
I have improved in January the chain RIVO with ADI-2 DAC FS significantly by adding a KECES P6 linear power supply. The P6 has two switchable outputs, one delivers 5 V for my RIVO, the other 12 V for the ADI-2 DAC. So i think linear power suppliers generally are better in digital hifi chains.
BTW: I use the ADI-2 DAC also as my pre-amplifier. Perfect sound with a high-end final amplifier.
