Currently I’m using a Bluesound Node N130 as pure streaming bridge. Has someone a sound quality comparison to Rivo+ ?
How is your experience with Rivo+ regarding Soaftware. Is it stable, comfortable and without problems (via iOS) when using Qobuz?
I’m planning to use Rivo+ (powered by SBooster LPS) with my RME ADI2 DAC FS (powered by LPS RME DPS-2). Is there anyone out there using this setup??
Yes. I tried Bluesound N132 and Icon. Rivo+ sounds much better, even with the switching power supply. More detail, more natural, more emotion. Use USB, it sounds clearer with the Adi2-DAC. The Rivo+ is (at least) on the same quality level as the Adi2.
The Volumio-Software is full of bugs. Bluesound is much more stable and quicker. I have the impression to have a 80-years-computer with a beta-software. BUT: the sound is very, very good, really musical, i don’t think you can get this from a chinese streamer, even a much more expensive. They don’t know how music sounds in reality. So, i would say, for 1300,- it’s a very good offer if you listen to classical music, but you have to accept a mean software. But for everyday use there is no problem. There are error windows popping up every day, but it works, sometimes you skip back and forward one more time and it continues working, but at least you don’t have to reboot. My Rivo+ doesn’t show the album artwork on my USB-drive, but it sounds good! If you wan’t better software, be prepared to pay at least 3x the price. I would never accept such a bad software in 2025 for 1300+350,-, if the sound wasn’t so good. Bluesound is good hifi, Rivo+ is high-end.
@JuergenH
Can you be a bit more specific on your problems, I am sure that Volumio wants to address it.
So far:
- Missing album art
- What is the content of the POP windows?
- Something with skipping?
Thanks a lot for your detailed answer Jürgen!
it helps me a lot…
Album art on USB stick is not shown, not in the folder menu, not on the playback page. On the USB stick, it is contained in every track (I don’t know how to say this correctly). BluOS shows the artwork (and is very quick!)
The error windows pop up when the rivo is busy, and he is often busy because he is very slow. There is a message: “…is busy”, but a lot of others, “…path unknown…”, some fill the whole screen, I’m not able to read all that. But there is no real problem, the rivo continues working, sometimes I have to skip to another menu level or another track and back.
A new bug is the following: When playing in Tidal connect, sometimes the Rivo stops playing 1-2 seconds before the end of the track.
Often, when choosing Rivo as output in the Tidal app, Tidal doesn’t connect, the circle is rotating. Then I have to skip to another album or to the Volumio app to connect and then back. This may be a problem of the Tidal software. But this problem appears more and more often.
I also had the stuttering problem in Tidal, but after the last update it’s working correctly.
No problem with skipping.
