Hi all,
Dont know if this topic has been asked before, but do anyone know if the volumio native tidal gets update? E.g tidal converts all to flac and role out mqa do tracks/albums in the volumio tidal app get same flac files?
Do the volumio tidal app get same new tracks/ albums on same time tidal drops them on there own app.???
Yes it does. There is only one problem, Tidal (yes correct Tidal, not Volumio) isn’t quite sure what Hi-res means. (Tidal also pushes MQA as being Hi-Res) So in Volumio select:
If you select Highest Possible Tidal pushes also MQA.
@Wheaten what do you mean by tidal is the problem here and why?
I use the hi-res setting, regarding highest setting and that tidal pushes mqa isnt all mqa tracks/ album etc been converted to flac 192khz / 96khz or 48khz be tidal when they changed there sign up plans this year
@Wheaten that a good one there
Video makes sence but me to i cant figure it out which one gives better sq hi-res or highest in volumio settings. I been using hi-res.
What is your sq quality experience here hi-res or highest? Other thing i noted is tidal from native volumio app that sq is much better than tidal connect.
This would give the best results, but it is more open to also push MQA as shown in the video.
@Wheaten
I just find out if set setting is highest and play track in volumio tidal app tracks that either 44khz/24 or 96khz/24 will only be played as 44khz/16 , but if setting is hi-res tracks will played as they are in tidals own app
I believe that is exactly what I told.
So setting volumio at highest possible we only get 44khz/16bit “cd quality”
Hi-res is the better setting
Tidal need to step up there game here they maybe change the subscription but after seen the video link you att they still behind qobuz
They are. Not a Tidal fan, Addicted to Qobuz, but it’s currently cheaper then Spotify.
Will say Tidal app is actually good, but they lacking on hi res we can only hope they upgrade soon.
But only resend i use is because it free from from my cell phone network provider.
Is the qobuz interface same same as tidal in the volumio app?
Yes it is. They both follow the same design.
I used to have Tidal for a year and I switched back to local playback from an ssd. From my experience Tidal is not lossless. Cd, Flac and even mp3 files from local storage sound much much better. I just use spotify and qobuz from my computer to discover new music.
For my HiFi I am using Pi 3 Model B+ with Hifiberry digi2 pro. I am sending the signal to the Dac via WireWorld Chroma Coaxial Cable.
