Issue #35 on Github, github.com/volumio/Volumio2/issues/35 is about choosing a license. I could dig into that. I got some lawyers in the company that can help and I have some knowledge about that myself. We can always change, but I guess we need to decide first on what we want with the project. We already chose to open source it.
Thanks for the help. I wanted also the other devs to say their opinion on that…
I was about to choose GPLv3 or MIT… Also apache could be a good licence… what do you think on that?
I’m going to take a deeper look at it
Ok,
I would like to know the following;
- Are we allowing people to make money off the Volumio distribution? (like selling a package including a media distro).
- If yes,… do we allow at certain point to let them “rebrand” it without any notice to Volumio?
- Do we allow to let someone modify our software and not open source it? (so close source it, and distribute it commercially, like a follow up on question 2)
