When these panasonic boomboxes came out I thought they were the coolest thing on the planet due to the motorised lid. Unfortunately they were also hideously expensive. I managed to get old one one for free with two broken tape decks. These tapedecks were never what you would call good to begin with and this one was beyond repair so.
-I took the tape deck mech out entirely
-Had to find somewhere to inject audio into the boombox as it didnt come with an Aux in
-Made a mount for a 7.9inch waveshare ultrawide screen and carried out the surgery needed to make it fit
-Used plastic glue and filler to smooth it off
-Sprayed it with textured paint to hide sanding mistakes
-Sprayed it over in Blue - Bule just because I had it
-Sprayed that over with a clearcoat that had some metallic flakes in it
-Sprayed the speaker grills and the speaker ports the same to tie it together
Equiptment wise
Boombox - Panasonic ED77.
Pi - pi4 booting off SSD on USB3
DAC - Raspberry Pi DAC Pro
Display - Waveshare 7.9 widescreen display via HDMI
It all basically works but due to the fact i needed to find somewhere to inject audio into the board i get some digital noise when the CPU in the Pi is loaded down. I think its to do with my wiring into the mainboard
