Hi everyone!
I’m happy to share that Volumio 4 integration is now available in the Homey App Store!** ![]()
I’ve been working on a Homey integration for Volumio, originally because I wanted to integrate my own Volumio Primo Plus into my smart home. What started as a personal project has now become a publicly available Homey app.
What can you do with it?
Current features include:
- Playback control: play, pause, stop, previous/next track, volume and mute.
- Music information: track title, artist, album and album artwork in Homey’s native media interface.
- Audio information: codec, sample rate, bit depth and current playback source.
- Homey Flows: automate your home when music starts, pauses or stops, when the source changes, or when the player disconnects or reconnects.
- TIDAL Connect detection: dedicated triggers and conditions for TIDAL Connect playback
- Automatic discovery: find compatible Volumio players on your local network, with manual IP configuration as an alternative.
What does this make possible?
For example, in my own setup, Homey automatically switches on my Hegel amplifier and selects its USB input when I start streaming music through Volumio. My TV also has its own input priority, so everything works together without constantly switching inputs manually.
Other possibilities include triggering lighting scenes when music starts, creating listening routines or integrating Volumio into more elaborate Homey Advanced Flows.
I’m already planning version 2.2, with improvements such as:
- Easier automation across different streaming services.
- Improved playback and connection status information.
- Shuffle and repeat controls.
- Starting favourite internet radio stations through Flows.
- Audio format and sample-rate change triggers.
Homey App Store:
The app requires a compatible Homey Pro running Homey v12.4.0 or newer. I’ve developed and tested it primarily with my Volumio Primo Plus, and I’d particularly welcome feedback from users with other Volumio hardware or DIY setups. I’d love to hear your experiences and suggestions!
A big thank you to the Volumio team.
Cheers,
Robin
