Same here can’t find a device on my network yet I can login via the browser. Android 7.1.2. This was with a RPi B+ on wifi. With a RPi 3 on LAN it seems to work ok. Have rebooted router too.
Surely there should be a way of selecting the device you want to use if you have multiple volumio devices?
I have the same problem.
I have a freshly installed Volumio 2.348 on Rpi3, and the official android client on Android 8.0, latest app version too. If I restart the RPi, the connection works for a while. After a small time connection lost, I tried to search again, kill the android app and restart it, doesnt matter at all. The local network is ok, static dhcp, stable wifi etc. If I try in the Chrome browser on the same mobile it works,I can reach end use volumio.local What to do next to repair my android app? I cannot restart the Raspi all the time.
I’m also having this problem.
I bought the android app, but it can find the device.
Using Chrome, in that same android device, it connects without any issue, and works flawlessly.
What can I do to solve this?
Well, I must say it is a shame that the Android app doesn’t work at all.
It doesn’t find a perfectly reachable Rpi running the last Volumio image. Generic MPD clients and even the RuneAudio player finds my Rpi and controls it but the Official Volumio app is proving itself useless. As someone said it should be possible to manually add the IP address.
The last release of android app brings a verification of wifi network and I think there is a problem here.
My android app worked fine, and after update it said “no wifi network”.
using manual IP solved the problem.
config 1 :
rpi3 with volumio installed, connected to home network by wifi.
an odroid XU4 with android, plugged by RJ45 to home network, it means no wifi. before, volumio app worked “out of the box”, now I have to specify IP. not a big problem.
config 2 :
rpi3 with volumio installed, connected to mobile network by wifi shared by smartphone
This android smartphone runs volumio app, Before, it worked like a charm, now I need to be connected to a wifi network that does not exist.
I’m conscious that it’s not simple configs and not a big problem too. In fact, it’s just that I don’t understand the goal of this verification if volumio is reachable on the network by an other way.
The problem on config one is that you’re not using an official build (they cannot be found by our app)
The problem on config 2 is that we added a check to verify that you’re on wifi network, this is because we discovered that the device research was done via 3g and not on wifi on multiple occasions. This resulted in lot of people not having their volumio device found by the app.
Your seems pretty much like an edge case, we will see if we can solve it…
For config 2, I understood that you had to solve this type of case.
For Config 1, I configured manual IP but, on each start of system, android app says “no wifi network” -> go to settings> go Back without changing anything, it works. Maybe the app follow the IP without checking again wifi ?
Hope it helps. for me, it’s not a big problem because it’s a “work in progress” config. when finished, both systems will be on the same Wifi.
