1 step forward - 3 steps back.
I did have to change the order of the calibration options as the settings inverted the x axis.
I now seem to have broken something else as the GUI now isn’t loading. I may rebuild and start again following your suggestions.

Well, a fresh install using my previous method of copying the files required manually, and adding in your ‘evdev’ suggestion seems to have done the trick.
After those install steps and then running the display calibration to obtain the correct figures for my screen, I not have a display working with which touch can be used.
I guess after all the attempting to get things sorted, I had too many conflicting configuration files which needed to be cleaned up.
