Volumio and spdif xonar u7

Hello. I have installed volumio v3.546 on a Raspebery 3b . I added an Asus Xonar u7 from which I want to output with a spdif cable. In the Volumio settings there is no such option. Is there a workaround for this problem?

you need something like this :
https://www.hifiberry.com/digis/

then set it to the hifiberry of your choice.

the xonar is a pc dac, so it could be a input on it when it’s connected to your pc

If I understand correctly:
You connected the DAC via USB to Volumio, but you want the DAC to output over SPDIF?

If that’s the question, then the answer is no. Volumio can’t control the DAC. This is something that needs to be done on the DAC. I expect there is a way to perform this action on the DAC?

Yes, it is. But on a Windows PC I could choose the Xonar spdif output and then I could change the output to the DAC. The Xonar works as an external sound card.

Linux is not Windows.
You’re connecting a windows DAC, with window drivers/software to a Linux OS and expect it to work the same.
This is not the case. Still you can change the output by pressing the button.

maybe you need to explane how you want to use it …
and how you see it in your mind?
your input on the xonar is mini jack ( mic ) here you could connect volumio,
but then your running true 2 dac’s to your amp

There is no mini jack input on the U7 besides the mic.
It’s a USB DAC.

Interfaces

Card Interface USB 2.0
Audio uit 2.0 Tulp Analoog, Digitaal Coax (S/PDIF), 4x Jackplug 3.5mm
Audio in Analog Input 1 x 3.5 mm jack (line in / mic in combo)
( so you can use it as a line in. @Wheaten )

Still the info is not help full.
You need software to switch between MIC and line-in (prob. related to bandwidth, just a guess as i don’t own this DAC). That software doesn’t run on Linux. Hence I left it out of the options.
Not even speaking on the circuit ADC => DAC => ADC => DAC your proposing and still not able to switch the output by SW.

This is also my last reply.
