I just sent a log report to the Volumio team immediately after encountering the same issues I described in the reply above. I am quite disappointed because I cannot use the Rivo Plus—I can’t play anything, even though I’ve tried everything possible to resolve the functional issues that have arisen. I hope the team can understand the mechanisms triggering these bugs. I have confirmation that the log was sent successfully: “Log successfully sent, this is the link to your log file”.
You need to paste the log file link here, with your report. It isn’t “sent” anywhere.
I “sent” the log link and report to Volumio Help Center, clearly mentioned above. Am I to understand that I can’t send directly to Volumio? I bought this device created by Volumio; it stoped working properly following an update, and I believe it is only right for Volumio itself to resolve this issue directly. Of course, I can also copy the link and the report to the forum.
Hi everyone,
If you’re still stuck at 99%, even after the server-side fix on our end, please try these additional steps:
-
Disconnect all USB devices from your Rivo/Rivo+ (including your DAC), leaving only power and Ethernet connected, this has resolved it for several users.
-
Power cycle the device: unplug it completely (not just the front button), wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in
-
Try the update again from Settings > System > Check for Updates
4. If it’s still stuck, try deleting and reinstalling the Volumio app on your phone, then reconnect
If none of this resolves it, please reach out to Volumio Support directly with your device details so we can look into your specific case.
Thanks again for your patience,
Best,
Marco Volumio
Hi, I’ve replied to your ticket. Please let’s continue the communication there, as it’s a different issue, thanks for the collaboration.
Kind regards,
Marco
Thanks for following up, glad it’s working now! Since we don’t have a clear explanation for what happened, if this occurs again, could you send us a system log right when the 24-bit file fails to play (before trying any workarounds)? That would help us actually pinpoint the cause if it recurs.
I suspect I’m wrong for the paid product support, sorry for the misinformation.
Thank you, Marco, for your kindness and suggestions. I will put the instructions you send me into practice this evening.I agree to continue our communication regarding the open ticket.
It’s not a problem at all, no hard feelings, I just want the problem resolved.![]()
When will it be released for the Volumio Primo Hi-Fi Edition?
@BobH55 Latest info from three weeks ago.
Wolfman, thanks for sharing that. I had missed that post.
Question on Sound Quality in 4.X, Is it better? I ask this because I reread the release notes at the top of the thread and while it does not say anything directly about sound quality, is it possible that with all the improvements comes increased sq? It sure seems better.
BTW, I am running the RiVO into the Preciso using USB.
Hi @backenst. Interesting question. I remember this post from @nerd in the earlier V4 (launch phase) thread. My own, highly subjective impression is that the SQ and general useability of Volumio is significantly improved versus V3. The various optimisations described by Nerd reassure me and my imperfect ears that Volumio is truly bit-perfect.
Regarding the sound sensations with the new version 4, my very first impression was of a slight enhancement in the mid-high range. Continuing to listen, over the following days, I confirmed this impression but also realized that this “slightly brighter color” didn’t take away from other areas and that there seemed to be greater extension. I seem to perceive greater clarity in the various elements of the sound message, more detail and understanding of nuances, especially in voices. It’s a bit like a painting that has been restored and now, in addition to seeing the general composition and its figures, you can now see the brush strokes and details that were previously a bit confused. There’s also more naturalness and voices and instruments seem more real. This is with Rivo + and Preciso DAC.
Since I don’t have any technical background, I can’t explain how this is possible by simply changing the files management, and it would be interesting to have an explanation of this, perhaps from Volumio itself.
No idea what’s behind the changes from Volumio V3 to V4. But: It’s pretty easy to hear differences between different software “data paths” playing music on the very same hardware. Take for instance the streamer’s native solution (e.g. the Volumio streaming plattform) versus Roon, or even Qobuz connect.
I can clearly hear that Qobuz connect unfortunately sounds a little veiled on my Rivo+ & mid-tier USB DAC. Veiled in comparison to playing Qobuz via Volumio, that is.
Same bits (I assume), same hardware. Different sound.
If Qobuz has a ‘normalize volume’ option, try turning that off and retesting between Qobuz Connect and Qobuz via Volumio. That fixes the SQ difference with Tidal.
had a look at both the mobile Qobuz app, as well as the desktop app. No option to normalize volume.
Thanks for the suggestion, anyway!
Since updating the software on my Volumio Rivo a few weeks ago, I am experiencing a glitch at the start of a track playback occasionally. Did not have this issue before. Playback is through WiFi, my only option and using Qobuz on the lower cd streaming setting.
Is there a setting in the option that possible does not agree with my DAC that has been reset after the software update.
Thanks
Damien
