Volumio 3 RC1 - Open Beta Testing

I think I am getting close to understanding the problem, it seems to be one of timing. The PI takes some time to boot up and so does the DIGI HAT. If the power supply for the boards was not powered, it too will take a little time to bring its voltage and current supply up to the required levels. If these timings conflict a little the DIGI is not initialised and so Volumio cannot use it. (sorry if my description/words are a bit clumsy!)
I think this is probably something that firmware could avoid but until then the only way I have had success is to have the power supply up and running, then connecting it to the devices. This not the way I have powered up my stuff before as I am nervous of fitting plugs into sockets when they powered.
I guess you dev guys will know if there is anything you can do to help with Volumio’s HAT recognition process, I hope you can.

version 3.150 on rPi 3b +, new UI Manifest, after a few seconds automatically redirects to “/myvolumio/profile”, is this the intended action? because it looks weak, especially when using an external screen

device: rpi3b, image: Volumiobuster-3.150-2021-11-19-pi
audio output: not relevant
issue:
I was trying to debug a problem in the first start wizard. But every time I try to test things, volumio keeps pestering me about signing up to myVolumio. How do I get rid of this?
I do not want to sign up, I don’t need myVolumio and do not want it.
At present this makes volumio3 completely unusable for me.
I am at a loss for words to explain how annoying this is.

reproduce:
Make a fresh image on an SD card, boot volumio. Run the first run wizard. Then wait until volumio starts asking you about myVolumio. Then try to ignore it. Warning: your head might explode.

@volumio any update on addressing issues with using the WiFi hotspot with the Pi A+ (v2 and v3 have issues). Wanted to know analysis before trying latest v3 image.

device: rpi3b, image: Volumiobuster-3.150-2021-11-19-pi
audio output: hdmi
issue:
In the first run wizard, I selected the defaults for the first few steps.
When I got to the wireless networks question, I did not want to connection to any wireless networks; the device has a perfectly working ethernet connection, that is enough. In case it matters, the wizard detected and listed three networks. So I tried to skip over that page without selecting a wireless network. The wizard crashed and started again, from the ‘language’ question.

I don’t have a log. I started looking into this but could not continue because the system started pestering me about signing up to myVolumio.

Thanks a lot for 3.150. Looks good so far. My observations:

Roon plugin is missing.

3.150 on RP4 (inside Okto DAC8 Stereo).
Streaming a 24/705.6kHz WAV file transcodes to 24/352.8. Volumio playback screen shows 705.6, but DAC shows 352.8
Streaming of native DSD512 not possible. Gives an error screen as shown below

Not all plugins have been ported to Volumio 3 yet.

Any update on the bug I get where every time I start music, it stops playing after a short while and gives the startup sound. If I press play, it happens again. Even if I don’t do anything the player keeps restarting. Still happens on the latest beta :frowning: but I love the new interface!

Please (to you & many others) would you mind linking to posts that you reference. Otherwise people have to start searching … which may put them off even bothering.

I think I found the issue
Okto DAC8 Stereo is not capable of DSD512. The specs are listed here

24/384kHz / DSD256native / DoP128

Hi.
I’m using version 3.150. tidal is no longer working. Tidal does not see volumio as an option to stream to. The Royal app logo does not appear as a payback option on volumio either

While we are working on fixing fixes for Volumio3 we just did an intermediary release for Manifest UI. Version 3.152 is now available on OTA.

Based on your feedback we did some fixes and improvements:

  • Fixes for viewport issues on mobile devices
  • Fixes for blur not working on firefox
  • Navigation improvements for browsing, including swipe gestures and a home button
  • Some other minor tweaks and fixes

Swiping gestures? Yes:

On the home screen:

  • Swipe right → Opens the hamburger menu
  • Swipe left → Opens the browse screen
  • Swipe up → Opens the queue
  • Swipe down → Opens the Audio Outputs menu

On the browse screen:

  • Swipe right → Exit browse screen
  • Swipe left → One step back

Thank you all for your feedback and keep it coming in this thread!

I am using 3.150. Beta version withered great with tidal up to this version. Anyone experiencing new probs with tidal with newest beta?

What myVolumio plan are you on?

I have free plan. I am logged in.

Sorry for that. This is meant to tell free users that they need a different kind of account to use it. Probably it’s not clear enough and its generating confusion.
Since the Manifest Ui is only for premium plans, there are still some edge cases we are fixing.
We will do another update ASAP

Many thanks for that. I have 2 volumio instances. One with virtuoso plan and one free only for testing purposes.

Perhaps it’s good to make this super clear? Current statement is open to interpretation

Yes, we were so eager to release it that we did not communicate well enough…
