I inserted my USB stick (fat32) in the USB3.0 port of my Rivo Plus filled with music (flac).
When i do a rescan and select a song/album i always got an red popup error:
“Error”
Failed to open “alsa”(also); Error
opening ALSA device “volumio”;
snd_pcm_hw_params() failed: No such
device or address.
But … when i click again it works.
It’s only on my USB Stick, not when i stream from my NAS (wifi).
In the meantime i removed my NAS (wifi) and replaced it with a 2Tb SSD plugged into the USB3 port of my Rivo+.
Most of the time i got a “Failed to open alsa” messages when i want to start a song.
If i click again it plays without errors or hickups.
If the song skipped automatically to the next song of the album it went ok.
It only appears when i start.
Other thing is when i skip forward in a song, i got most of the time an “failed to open audio output” warning and the song stops.
If i click the play button it starts at the skipped time normal without problems.
I found out this weekend that it only appears on the I2S output and not on the USB output.
I made a ticket so if this is solved i post it here.
Yesterday i did a double check.
I borrowed my previous NAS which i sold to a friend and we did a test again.
Removed the USB-SSD and connected NAS through WiFi.
All songs played correct without ALSA errors on i2s to my DAC !
I removed the NAS from the source and tested again with 2 USB sticks (2Tb and 8Gb), and again ALSA errors.
So we can conclude that it’s not in the DAC but an USB problem on the Rivo+.
I can’t believe that I’m the only one with this problem.
I hope we can solve this soon because this shouldn’t be possible for such an expensive device.
I wonder what are my rights if this can’t be solved ?
Bought it end of November and struggle with various problems.
This can’t be true that you can’t even play from an USB stick without getting errors all the time !
I opened an ticket 2 months ago and they still working on it.
Is it possible for others who have a Rivo(+) with an SSD on the USB input and test if they have the same ALSA errors if they connect it through I2S on a DAC ?
The problems i have:
If i start an album it plays perfect.
When it jumps at the end to the next track it went fine.
Only when i click on the skip buttons (previous or next track), start or when i click on the indicator bar of the song i got these errors (only on i2s, not on usb).
