USB DisplayLink Screen configuration on RPi 3B+

I have a spare FullHD 15" display by Asus (MB169B+). It uses DisplayLink via USB. AFAIK Raspbian can be configured to show image on this display (the latest release has even kernel drivers), so I was wondering can we have the output on USB DisplayLink screens with Volumio too? It should show now playing, not to control the RPi. Grazie mille.

sorry there are no drivers for your type asus zenscreen only windows or mac drivers.

Hey @Dragisa_Rakic,

Current Volumio OS is based on Buster, no such gpu accelerator is not even offered. This become a possibility once Bookworm release is available (no ETA yet).

Technically speaking:

  • 3B+ from specs does not have sufficient bandwidth to drive anything higher than XGA. If it works with FHD - welcomed surprise.
  • 4B, CM4, 400 are using chipset which has enough bandwidth for as long as the board is not connected with LAN.
  • In most cases, USB power delivery to DisplayLink screens is below screen requirements and additional power injector is needed.

Kind Regards,
