Sorry, but what do you mean exactly?

The idea is to convert, as HQplayer, or Audirvāna PCM to high frequency DSD.

and the advantage would be?
Please elaborate on why this would be an improvement.

The work is made on the PC side where the power could be. A lot of DAC use this sound treatment : PS Audio, TEAC. But DACS are working ā€œliveā€. On PC side you can take your time, put all that in ram and play. Receiving direct DSD the DAC has just a filter to make.
The noise is push way far the ear capacity.
The sound is different, and a lot of people prefer it like that. One bit DACS are back.
The sound quality is the only thing that make this way to play digital music survive. Sox or R8brain are free algorithms to convert PCM to DSD but you can do it with more or less power, having a light OS allow to keep all that the cpu can give for the conversion to 512.
The only way to know is to try a DAC with no PCM conversion and play with the app settings. Audirvāna is free to test and has a Linux core version. I can’t say that you will prefer the DSD sound, at this level who can say that a 30 euro Bourgogne is better than a 30 euro Barolo ? Matter of taste, I take the both :grinning:
