Unable to install Wifi dongle driver

I bought a Wifi dongle, it is supposed to be RPi compatible but I am unable to get it to work. I don’t understand the instructions to install the driver. Can anyone dumb it down for me. Do I just copy-paste the driver to my SD memory where the OS resides? Do I need to write something into the OS? If so how, when I connect a keyboard and mouse to the RPi I get a Volumio OS running message but cannot input any commands from the keyboard!

You are not the only one.
I have the same problem. Wanting to install a WiFi dongle but I don;t know how.
Hopefully somebody answer this post.

there is no need to install anything just take a support dongle an disable the onboard WiFi.

here the answer to your question the only difference is the file to be written, instead of adding the two followings lines on config.txt, add them to userconfig.txt, so they will be maintained with OTA software updates dtoverlay=disable-bt dtoverlay=disable-wifi If you’re going to edit the userconfig.txt file inserting the SD-card to a windows PC, please don’t use notepad, but install and use notepad++ to edit the file
