Yes it should work with update, but hopefully you did not change the file in /etc/network/interfaces
No I just followed the instructions this time
All is good thanks so much for this ! I’m going to close related issue, what a relief.
A few comments though:
Reading Network UI setting right after first (long as usual: see below).
- Hotspot is set to OFF: is there a detection now that cancels hotspots if it initially fails (nice idea)?
- Wireless is set to OFF (more surprising).
Still Wireless status in upper part of the page shows wifi connected (online ticked) to Hotspot with 192.168.111.1
This seems a bit confusing.
I then set-up the wireless network on my home AP.
Refreshing the UI showed it connected to AP (with correct IP address), but all the sudden Hotspot panel was ON, with all settings!..
It seems there are some sync issues between UI & actually running settings.
About long first-boot, a suggestion if I may.
Can we have the system throw more info about where it is at during long-lasting initial sequences (I guess refactoring image, etc).
This may help users looking at console message be patient and let it go-through: many problems are due to interrupted first boot, despite recommandations.
Don’t know if this is related to the previous post:
If I restart the router (=DHCP server), the Volumio DHCP clients will fallback to AP mode, ie. they don’t discover that the DHCP server is back.
Looking at journal message, there are indeed lots of error reports related to DHCP (client & server): fine-tuning networking services config is probably still work in progress.
But at least one can successfully boot PiZero now: finalizing wifi AP login may still require some command-line fiddling, but it can be done.
