I’m looking to build a Volumio based streamer with a built-in 7-inch display and was hoping to get some advice from those who’ve done something similar.
My goal is to have a clean, all-in-one unit for streaming (ideally something that can handle services like Spotify, Tidal, or local files), with a touchscreen interface for control and display (album art, track info, etc.). I’m fairly comfortable with basic electronics and software setup, but I’m not sure about the best components to choose or how to bring it all together neatly.
A few specific questions:
• What hardware would you recommend as a base? (e.g. Raspberry Pi models or alternatives)
• Any particular 7-inch displays that work especially well for this
• Any tips for cases/enclosures to make it look presentable?
Also, I’m based in the UK—where are the best places to buy the parts? I know of sites like Pi Hut and Pimoroni, but I’d love to hear if there are other good suppliers for screens, cases, DACs, and general components.
If anyone has builds, guides, or photos they can share, that would be massively appreciated.
