Storing large mucic library: NAS vs USB HDD?

I’ve used NAS solutions before on previous Volumio projects (2). I’m using the Allo DigiOne DAC to get clean output. So far, this has about equaled the best (cleanest) sound my serious audiophile buddy has heard. He has a stable of gear far beyond mine. :slight_smile:

Should I worry about quality of the incoming digital stream more from a USB hard drive attached to the Pi than to a NAS device connect to the Pi over Ethernet?

in my experience it is better to use nas attached togheter with volumio device on separate switch, not on router…
