Yep it seems to be working again and more stable than the previous version. (With previous version I mean the version before Spotify made changes)

After reinstal of 4.2.2 everything is working.

Hi everyone,
Iā€™ve been using Volumio with the Spotify plugin for quite some time now, and Iā€™ve always faced the same issue: ā€œSpotify playback stops automatically after a few minutes/hoursā€, and I have to manually press Play again.

The only version that never had this issue, was version: 4.1.3 . I used it for several months without a single interruption ā€” it was perfect.

However, two days ago, music suddenly stopped and I couldnā€™t get it to play again. The Play button wouldnā€™t respond at all, and on Spotify i cant play too! Thatā€™s when I updated to the latest and actual plugin version (4.2.2), which fixed the Play button issue, but unfortunately, the problem of playback stopping after a few hours came back.

So in short:

  • All versions stop playback after a minutes/hours, except the Version: 4.1.3;
  • 4.1.3 only version that doesnā€™t stop, but recently the Play button stopped worked;
  • 4.2.2 plays, but playback still stops after a while!

Is there any way to:

  1. Prevent Spotify playback from stopping with the current version?
  2. Or download and reinstall the ā€œ4.1.3 versionā€ again?

But, is it me or does the album not show in volumio anymore when playing through spotify ? Or has it never been doing that ? (using spotify for years on volumio but canā€™t recall)

And, I see the player in spotify now as ā€˜go-librespot -myname-ā€™ instead of just myname as per volumio setting. Anything I can do there ?

I knew this method and saved the installation few times by uninstalling the Spotify plugin and all the reboots but it comes back over and over.
I tend to see a pattern. If the electric company does some maintenance work cutting the electricity, the Spotify plugin tends to fail. Not always but sometimes.
Few times I had to reinstall the whole Volumio image and start from scratch.
The current issue is that I can see the Volumio device through Spotify but when I try to connect it kicks me out of it.

There are some serious issues with this current Spotify plugin.
