Hello,
I am using a Volumio Rivo+ with the latest Spotify plugin v4.4.1.
Until recently, I am quite sure that Volumio displayed FLAC when playing Spotify. Now it consistently shows OGG 44.1 kHz / 16 bit.
I have already:
Reinstalled the Spotify plugin
Verified that the bitrate is set to 320 kbps
Restarted the Rivo+
The display still shows OGG 44.1/16 during Spotify playback.
My question is:
Is Spotify Lossless currently supported on the Rivo+ / Volumio Spotify Connect implementation, or is Spotify Connect still limited to Ogg Vorbis (320 kbps)?
Also, has anything changed recently in the Spotify plugin that could explain why I used to see FLAC and now see OGG?
Any clarification from the Volumio team would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
I recently own a Rivo+ and miss the oportunity for playing Spotify lossless. The plugin as well as Spotify connect does not support lossless.
@ Volumio team: is Spotify lossless on the roadmap?
My “daily driver” is a WiiM streamer which is supporting almost all formats.
So at this time the Rivo will just be used for high quality listening Tidal

Thank you for the clarification.
I really appreciate the transparency. It’s unfortunate that Spotify has not responded after all these years.
I have just ordered a Rivo+ SE with Lineo5 and Spotify is currently my main streaming service. Native Spotify Lossless support would be a huge benefit for many Volumio users.
I sincerely hope Spotify will eventually make the official SDK available, because the hardware deserves it.
Thank you for keeping us informed.
