I have to start new DIY project after finished different projects and want to made player based on Volumio. I want to build it on Volumio using RPI 4 B HW with my own power supply. But what I need is several things.
One from them is accurate usage of power.
Most time Volumio hasn’t used, as we are not at home 24/7 and need to do some different things instead music listenning.
So, the Volumio always in waiting mode. But I didn’t see any case to make real sleep mode on it. Shutdown it’s not a point as power up takes a lot of time, so I’m thinking about something like hybernate mode or sleep mode of linux with wake up on LAN using Volumio phone remote App.
Do someone has realized this or may be has some vision how to do this case of functionality?
Another one I hope we have here people with experience to connect buttons to RPI to use for play - stop - pause the Volumio.
I didn’t found this information may you can link me to?
I’ve just think to do a script in spare time that catch the system service status (aka tidal-connect service in my case) and if not running or in idle status do a simple shutdown.
it will never start immediately as the rPi has no sleep/hibernate mode. But booting a rPi5 takes about 40 sec.
But I see you modified the topic, with a more specific ask.
Rpie are great devices, I wouldn’t worry about power usage it would be nothing (do you have a fridge?).
Just turn stuff off at the wall if you are really worried, or get a smart plug.
Exactly - Volumio has no sleep/hybernate mode. And more - no standby mode as usual audio devices.
So bye-bye volumio.
I have found very interesting facts, sound of volumio is not so good as in advert. LMS is mostly good, more settings and customization and has the sleep mode. Also has free tidal plugin and dosn’t has payment for huge amount unused features, but the huge amount of free plugins
So - not see any reason to stay here.
