Some CDs are not ripped completely, missing some tracks

I have a CD that will not rip completely (tried multiple times). When inserted the Audio CD shows all 14 tracks with metadata and artwork. However ripping always completes after track 11. It’s a brand new cd and plays perfectly to the end in a CD player.
Thanks for the advice!

The content of a CD is read starting from the Table of Contents (TOC) located at the small central opening. Track 1 begins just after the TOC, with higher-numbered tracks positioned progressively toward the outer edge. As a player moves closer to the end, the CD may become less stable.

This could also be a hardware issue, so it’s worth asking: Does this happen with every/multiple CD or just this one?

Dear Wheaten - thanks for pointing me towards the hardware! It happens occasionally, and indeed it seems to happen more often with CDs with a longer playtime. I did some testing and also happens outside of the Volumio environment. So the old CD transport will be the culprit.

You can try to clean the lens with a cotton tip and clean Alcohol. If that doesn’t fix the issue, you might consider a replacement.
