Hello,
I am trying to connect an old PC screen (NOT a touch screen) on Volumio, just to have a large screen for display. The screen is an old Acer one, 17", 16:9 with a vga input. I use a hdmi/vga interface, and this works ok, except one point: the resolution on the first boot is not correct. It looks like a 800x480 resolution, which looks ugly on this 17" screen.
If I restart volumio through the Web UI, the display becomes correct (looks like 1280x1024 or more).
But if I make an electrical shutdown of the RPI (shutdown + switch off/on), I have again the same problem on first boot.
If I do the same with my TV screen (native hdmi), everything is fine.
Can this come from the hdmi/vga adapter? Something like screen detection which is not correct? But it works on reboot…
Is there any way to force the resolution (or screen detection) so that it will be ok on first boot? Any hint?
Thanks for your help.
Edit: found the solution here to force the resolution:
Works at first attempt. I have used 1820*1024, and it just looks great on this old screen
