SmashTunes integration

Hi,

Recently I bought a Rivo+ because I was a bit disappointed with the sound quality of an Eversolo DMP A6. I also did not like the software that much. I know it is praised everywhere, but I found it to be a bit clumsy. Anyway, I thought let’s try Volumio. It was a bit of a gamble, but so far I like it very much. The sound is beautiful, and the software is also very nice. I also really enjoy Qobuz connect, now that that’s live.

I’m also the author of SmashTunes, a small macOS menu bar utility that displays the currently playing track of Apple Music and Spotify in the menu bar of your Mac. It also allows you to control the music, so you can easily pause the music, for example.
Anyway, since I knew that Volumio is quite open, I thought: how nice would it be if I could control my Rivo+ when I’m working on my laptop in the living room? So I have started to work on this. I’ve got the display part working for the most part. It already is nice to be able to take a glance at what song is playing

I just wanted to post this here, for those of you that may be interested in this. For those who are in a niche within a niche

awesome! this is the beauty of being open, anyone with the right skills can contribute with new features and improvements!

keep up the good work!

Yesterday I released a new version of SmashTunes that supports Volumio!

You can control Volumio in all ways thinkable right from your menu bar, or by making use of (global) keyboard shortcuts. The latter for controlling the volume, which is something that seemed like the minimal for a Volumio integration

I’m very pleased with it. Now I can enjoy my Rivo+, when I’m working in the living room, and easily control it. I’ve not implemented things like marking tracks as favorites, or adding tracks to playlists. Maybe I will add that in a future release.

I’m curious to learn what you think!
