I use two RPI 3B with two DAC+ (HATs), playing FLAC files from a 1.5 TB HDD.
I scan my CDs from a 1.5 TB HDD, a long process but it always worked in the past.
This was trouble-free for many years, the volumio2.x generation.
Problems started with volumio3.x, I guess.
No problems with formatting, using the latest PI imager and pasting the latest unzipped “volumio” .img files 3.8xx on the 16 GB SD card .(as per instructions).
I notice there is only ONE partition, the /boot.
Is this OK???
Booting up the RPI without issues, webradio’s accessible, DAC working fine, WIFI OK.
Problems start with scanning the HDD.
I know it takes a long time (85800 tracks) and I gave it a lot of extra time to make sure the database is properly scanned and indexed.
At the end I can just see the FOLDERS listed in the UI- LIBRARY, but the moment I want to open a folder to select a CD or track, the spinning wheel reappears endlessly.
After that it is a total mess.
I have reinstalled the whole process maybe 50 times, to no avail.
The database is (shortly) visible in the UI but apparently cannot be accessed.
I cannot see any database file generated on the SD card, after this process.
What’s wrong???
(no hardware problem because the webradio’s play well and I have two separate systems with the same problem)
There are about 8 friends with a similar system experiencing the same issue…and counting on me . Help !
