I did an extensive search of the previous topics. Did not see anything in the past 2 years that was relevant. Those topics took place before Volumio had implemented the Amp2.
Fresh, clean Volumio install using Volumio-3.703-2024-06-04-pi
RPi4 + HiFiBerry AMP2 + 5" TFT Display.
Approved PSU for Amp2.
No Plugins installed or any other modifications.
USB flash drive with 1 album worth of FLAC files.
Hello, I have the same setup, pi4 and the dac2hd. I have the identical error pop up. My Volumino has been running great. I wonder if something changed on Volumino’s side that is causing this?
Thanks for the feedback - I tried the other HiFiBerry and just now another USB DAC that worked in PCP and RoPiee and those aren’t even detected. I’ve emailed Volumio Support but am really wishing I hadn’t spent the last 10 days on the displays, interface etc. and started with the hardware. I just assumed that if the hardware was listed it would work. This has been 10X the effort I spent on PCP and Ropiee…
Well, heck I got it working again. I did a restart in the iPhone app. Touch the 3 line bar in the upper left corner. On the screen that pops up push the power button at the bottom, then restart. Hope yours works.
On a clean install with nothing else attached and no Plugins:
Using “HiFi Berry Dac Plus” the DAC2 to work
Using “HiFiBerry Amp” the Amp2 will work.
No other option, including the specific matching name, will work. Long term stability remains to be seen but this is obviously a Volumio issue - let’s see what Support comes back with.
I can not agree to these statements I’m afraid. Let’s facts speak for themselves:
HifiBerry’s dtoverlays are not following kernel’s 6.1 release cycle.
Volumio devs issued test release 3.728 regressing kernel; addressing issue you have reported with other HifiBerry DACs already. Said regression is included in all updates after Volumio OS 3.703 release.
There are various threads showing the problem and discussing work around in details:
As a summary, for all HifiBerry DACs:
Update your Volumio OS to release newer than 3.703 (with kernel 6.1.69); test version at the time of writing this reply.
Add to the /boot/userconfig.txt:
dtparam=i2c_arm_baudrate=1000000
Perhaps I will write a post in the help section later on.
