Hi, I bought a RPI 5 2GB version – before I read anything about that board’s issues. I moved my SD card from the Pi4 I have been running Volumio on, and the RPI5 didn’t boot. I got the same black screen others have posted about here. After reading about it, I figured I’d simply put the card back into my RPI4 and move on. But Volumio won’t boot. No activity. I have a lot of custom display (RPI Touch kiosk) settings as well as custom urls for radio stations, etc… I do occasionally use the backup plug in, but it’s backed up to the card itself, I believe. I don’t really know how to use that plug in. Any ideas? Would like to “go back.”
next time create a image of your sd card with win32disk imager before you tweak.
Hey @skywave-rider ,
The work on Volumio-OS including Raspberry Pi 5 2GB is in the beta phase and you can join and participate here:
Kind Regards,
I didn’t tweak at all! I merely swapped SD cards. Not one tweak. Aside, I think the imaging software you mention won’t run on Mac, I use that and Linux.
Thanks @nerd , I’m pretty burnt out on beta testing. I need something reliable, or fairly reliable. I would need clearly written instructions showing how to do it, and from a cursory look, it’s going to be a project (for me) just to get the beta running. All the tweaks I did to my Volumio setup took time; it’s nothing I can do quickly and computers are not an avocation for me. Like for a lot of people! Thanks for the response.
sorry i’m not a mac user maybe some else has a anwser for that.
the latest stable version won’t work on a RPi5 2GB, because it has a new revision of the CPU that required an updated kernel
the beta version has that new kernel, so for you it’s the only option to run Volumio on your RPi5 2GB, sooner or later it will became stable.
