Rivo volume control good quality?

I would like to know if the digital volume control is well implemented or bad for sound quality. My amp and DAC both have no remote so I would like to have digital volume control. Same implementation for Rivo and Rivo Plus? I know Lumin has good digital volume control via Leedh Processing that works almost lossless…

Secondly, I have seen in a video that Rivo Plus has DAC specific output settings to optimize performance: is this a Rivo Plus only feature are also possible with standard Rivo?

And finally, is Qubuz Connect already working?

Thank!

Hello,

You can control the volume digitally by using either the software or hardware mixer, which can be selected from the Playback Options menu.

There are no specific settings required for the outputs, but Rivo features a dedicated USB DAC port with filtered 5V power. This ensures a clean and stable USB signal, enhanced by proprietary error correction and reclocking technology.

On the Rivo+ side, upgraded MEMS clocks within the USB hub IC improve signal integrity and reclocking performance, especially when using the dedicated USB DAC port.

Regarding Qobuz Connect, we are currently finalizing its implementation and expect to release it soon.

Best,
Davide
VOLUMIO TECH SUPPORT

A digital streamer does not have digital volume control. Rivo and Rivo+ use the same method: they connect to the hardware volume found in the downstream DAC or AMP (which is usually the best way to preserve sound quality).

If they do not support hardware volume, Volumio has a software volume control that you can select. This however will slightly degrade sound quality and it’s therefore not recommended.
