Rivo does not accept 1440x900 screen

A friend of mine is thinking to get a Rivo, so I lent him mine. The Rivo had problems connecting to the Lenovo ThinkVision T2054p 60G1MAT2CH screen (1440x900) via HDMI. The Rivo kept asking for a different screen resolution.
With his current streamer (Odroid N2 with Volumio 3.571), the screen is recognized without issues.
Can the ThinkVision screen parameters please be included in the next Rivo Software update?

Interesting, both devices (both companies, Hardkernel/ Khadas) use the Amlogic vendor kernel 4.9.241.
So, the issue might be in the startup, the boot file settings need to be compared.

Thanks, Gé
That would mean that the issue is certainly solvable. I will recommend my friend to purchase the Rivo

The Khadas boot configuration file boot.ini does not handle display autodetect like Odroid N2 does.
The HDMI setting defaults to 1080p60hz.
This can be modified, but needs SSH and editing skills.
And worse: the modification will get overwritten with each update.
To make it flexible and survive an update, the boot.ini must be modified by Volumio devs.

Would you mind letting us know which mods we need to do? This way we’ll test and add them in the next release

Sure, I’ll get in touch.

Hi Michelangeo
The two screens that my Rivo has issues with are:

  • 1920x1200 HP → image is stretched vertically
  • 1440x900 Lenovo → Rivo displays message after boot (I have not seen it first hand, this is reported by a friend).

Thanks a lot for looking into this
Rudi

What message does your friend get with 1440x900?
