The one thing that is holding me back from purchasing a RIVO PLUS is the sad absence of a USB 3.0 to which I might connect my very large volume hard drive. I prefer a direct connection and updating my large library of music using USB 2.0 standards takes forever.
I can’t imagine that would be a very costly upgrade and I sincerely hope Volumio will consider it for future iterations of at least its top server.
Oh, adding a BNC output would also be a good idea, I think.
Thanks for the response. It’s too bad, though, that you couldn’t manage to be polite about it. Read the manual? Seriously? That’s how you sell your gear?
That’s good to know, Wheaten. Thanks. It’s one thing for some ill-mannered rando to act like it’s somehow my responsibility to read the fine print in the official literature supplied with a unit I do not yet own, and another entirely for the company offering a product for sale to treat prospective customers that way. I’m glad it is not the latter as it is almost never the latter are more helpful and responsive after they have made a sale than before.
So, let me change my suggestion: It would be a good idea, from my point of view at least, to list basic features like that the USB input is 3.0 (especially since it is not blue as usb 3.0 ports typically are) in the basic promotional material (such as the website) rather than expect interested consumers to find and read the manual.
I just say read the manual, it’s in there. It has nothing to do if i’m not polite !
You just shouldn’t act so arrogant; you won’t make any friends that way on forums where people make an effort to give you an answer.
You seem to have missed that this forum is for making suggestions. I offered one, solicited but uncompensated, based upon readily available information on the site. Despite the fact that I did not ask a question, you took it upon yourself to answer me as though I had anyway, and in a rather smug way, no less.
I provided feedback on your assumption that the Rivo+ does not have USB 3.0 to prevent misleading information.
Your manner of communicating is anything but polite, and I will leave it that way.
Hey everyone! First, a genuine thank you for all your feedback and suggestions. We’re already working on making the product page clearer, and the BNC connector idea? You’re not the only ones who’ve been thinking about that.
On the tone front: let’s remember we’re all here because we share a passion for great sound. Text can strip away a lot of warmth, and what reads as sharp is often just enthusiasm. No harm done.
This is a community built on good music and good people. Let’s keep it that way and enjoy the ride together.
