Really buggy install- will not re-install via USB unless PC is booted into a different OS then re-attempted via USB, very frustrating

Hello,
I installed the latest build of Volumio OS for x86 PC.
Created USB bootable install with Linux Mint USB boot tool. This has never failed for any OS, whether Windows or Linux.
Interestingly, when I installed to new music PC with new SSD drive, the first installation went without a problem, but I was unaware I needed to go to SYSTEM > Install to Disk.

After I rebooted and removed USB drive, system was prompting for boot media.
This was extremely frustrating. After several hours trying to create a new USB boot media with new USB stick, I finally, literally booted this PC with a different OS, Ubuntu Server with Audirvana… Then shut down PC, installed new blank SSD drive and Volumio bootable USB drive again. THEN Volumio would go through the install steps. Perhaps have better documentation about installing OS to an X86 PC, indicating that if anything goes awry or user forgets to “Install to Disk” that a different OS must be booted up before a re-attempt of Volumio OS via the USB drive?

I don’t know what happened for you, but an USB key flashed with volumio remains bootable even if you don’t install on disk! And no need to boot an other OS…,.
Nothing related to volumio …

I apologize, please let me clarify. So after the initial first time booting with the USB drive, it installed Volumio but I did not go to SYSTEM > Install to disk. Then when I rebooted it was asking for bootable media because I had removed the USB drive. Then I plugged the USB drive back in, and rebooted with the USB drive, and Volumio hung evey time at “getting system ready” or something along those lines. It would show the animated initial splash screen with the Volumio logo, then underneath that, It literally would not progress any farther past the “getting system ready” for HOURS! So YES, there is an issue with Volumio. I beg to differ. I literally had to boot my system with a different OS, then booted back with the Volumio USB, and ONLY then, would the system proceed with installing Volumio after the initial “Getting System Ready” screen. So no matter how many different USB drives I used to create bootable media for Volumio with, literally the only time my PC would progress with the Volumio install was when I booted to a different OS, then rebooted with Volumio install USB. I hope that clarifies things. Sorry I forgot to mention that detail in my last post.

Not sure what happened here, but whenever I am performing test rounds (like Bookworm) I boot and reboot my x86 devices all via USB. I have never run into issues like you experienced.
Only differences is that I always use Raspberry Imager as instructed in the “get started” to create my bootable USB thumb.
As far as I can recall you’re the first reporting this issue.
