Raspberry pi4 da 1gb va bene con volumio?

Nuove traduzioni disponibili

I already have two Raspberry Pi3B+ and Pi4 2 GB, I would like to buy another one also to use as a streamer with Volumio, but the Pi4 2 GB is not available. There is only the Pi4 1 GB, I would use it with a 1000 GB HD full of FLAC files. In your opinion, would it also be okay with 1 GB? And, if available, there is also the Pi5 with 1 GB, which of the two could work better? Thank you

Please in English!

The 2GB Raspberry Pi 4 is not available, there is only the 1GB Pi 4. I would use it with a 1000 GB hard drive. Full of FLAC files. In your opinion, is 1 GB also good enough? And, if available, there is also the Pi 5 with 1 GB, which of the two could work better? Thanks

With 1TB on FLAC, I would always advise a minimum of 2GB, 4GB will run smoother.
The prices for a rPi4 2GB or rPi5/2GB are identical and for 4GB the difference is 7 Euro.
Keep in mind that for a rPi5, you need a proper Power supply and the USB max current is more strict.

Good morning, so, from what I understand the best choice is a 4 GB Raspberry Pi 4. It is more tried and tested compared to the Pi 5, and with the new version of Volumio 4 it should also work well with large hard drives. In your opinion, is it the right choice? And in your opinion, is the higher cost of a 4 GB compared to the 2 GB justified? Thank you.

The rPi4/2GB will do it’s job, 4GB will run smoother. I can’t make this call for you.
Personally I would opt for 4GB, as I run a big library (+70000 tracks)

I have only bought rPi5’s in the last years.
Faster (booting, library browsing, GUI), on board power button, possibility to add NVMe storage.
