Volumio streamed internet radio perfectly before the 2.915 update (minus Spotify functionality, obviously).
After the update Volumio shows that it is playing but there is no sound coming out of the system when streaming radio or when playing Spotify. It’s completely silent even though it shows it is playing.
It does display song info and album covers so it is retrieving something. When I look at the Raspberry Pi, the green light status light isn’t flickering (flicker = network/device activity).
I gave up trying to troubleshoot and ran a clean install to see if that would fix it. Same issues. I then installed both Spotify plugins. Same issues - no sound.
I even tried plugging in headphones into the Pi and into the HiFiBerry - neither headphone jack output sound.
After installing the System plugin, it shows 54°C which is wrong. The device is cool to touch.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

From what I can see, the error says that it cannot find the sound card softvolume.
This means that there is an incorrect configuration of software volume.
I suggest to do this:
Go to playback options, then select mixer “none”, save.
Let us know if it plays.
Then please, send logs and post the link as requested (otherwise its just guess work)
It did not work. I reset the device to factory defaults and tried it: same error. I then set the mixer to “None” as requested and again received the same error.
It seems that there is an error in the driver. See:

The best way for me to understand what goes wrong is to wait for the hifiberry to arrive.
I have another one, but it is not working and I receive the same error…
One question: from which version did you update from? So I will test that as well
