Radio not responding

Hello ,
I have installed latest volumio version in rpi4 . After a pause , if I play radio , radio does not start . I have tried also to switch the radio but still not ok .
I installed only peppy spectrum , touch display , radio paradise
In order to fix I need to do a restart .

Thanks .

I’m afraid the radio or some decoder has a memory leak. I’ve tried leaving the radio stations playing for days and they freeze. Apparently 256 kbps radios hang at half the time of 128 kbps radios. I’ve tried with other Linux distributions and it doesn’t happen.

Volumio should seriously consider discarding Armbian with DietPi.

@volumio Would you please check this issue . This is very annoying .
Thanks

just checked, for me it is working well, but i do a automated reboot every night and autostart last playing

i recommend that

Volumio IS NOT based on Armbian OS, for some community portings it makes use of the Armbian kernel

please try with no plugins, most of the users do not have problems with web-radio playback (including myself)

Sorry , but since are basic plugins … I did not had that issue in the past. , from logs all is ok ?
Thanks

I didn’t have a look to the log yet

Thank you. I noticed the defect only with Raspberry Pi, it is easily reproducible, play this station https://www.gammaradio.it/ at 256 kbps, go to sleep and tomorrow you will find it blocked. With the Raspberry Pi Zero W it always happens.

I tried with DietPi and Firefox to do the same test, the memory used increases with playback time to about 600MB and then decreases around 500MB. Probably DietPi uses less RAM but I used Firefox too, Volumio has no graphical interface and the hardware starts from 512MB of RAM.

This can be reproduced also with antenne Bayern oldies but goldies radio. Same procedure as above

With this station https://www.radio24.ilsole24ore.com at 64kbps the used RAM it’s more stable.

The new version 3.601 of Volumio seems to have solved the problem, https://www.gammaradio.it/ no longer freezes during playback.

On computers with 512 MB of RAM a swap file has been added and the free memory remains approximately constant, on models with 2 GB of RAM there is no swap file and the free memory still decreases by about 1 MB every 20 minutes.

Under these conditions we should have about 3 weeks of guaranteed reproduction. I hope I haven’t written nonsense.

good to hear!

in the new stable release 3.601 we finally managed to include an updated version of MPD, after fixing several other regressions introduced by this change.

I think this was the change that made your problem solved
