my Rivo+ feeds my DAC via USB.
Using Qobuz as my favourite streaming service I noticed that sound quality is a little veiled / grey / less airy when using the Qobuz connect feature instead of the Volumio app.
My “backup service” Tidal seems to sound the same with both the Volumio app and Tidal connect.
Another user on the official Qobuz community forums (club.qobuz.com) reports the same - only that he uses an Auralic streamer. But the issue seems to be the same for him: sound quality using Qobuz connect instead of streaming using the native Auralic app is worse.
Other remarks of other users can be found via google.
I found the same, but it is what it is for now. I’ll keep using the Volumio app. The trade-off is tolerating the inconvenience of its glitches. First, Qobuz playlists won’t show up when trying to add new titles through Volumio. Second, several minor bugs can be annoying. Still, I’ve been able to work around them while keeping Volumio as my playback platform. After all, sound quality is ultimately more important.
I can’t hear any difference at all in the brief test I did.
Testing was hard, because when switching from internal Qubuz back to connect does not work very well. I get no output from my Rivo+. So it is hard test single tracks.
