I have had a number of customer asking about this feature. This feature would be a great addition to Volumio.
Still no Qobuz Connect has been the reason for me to let the Rivo move to another owner, sorry and bye.
Seriousā¦
Get your information correct, before making these strange remarksā¦
There is no Qobuz Connect as itās still in Beta by Qobuz themselves.
Even Qobuz hasnāt released a Beta, but yet you blame it on Volumioā¦
Thank you for sharing this information, did not know that. Was this communicated by Volumio before?
Nevertheless would I have let go of the Rivo anyway, unless I would have had some sort of a roadmap. I understand now why Volumio cannot give this at the moment.
@Rudivanb I expect Volumio to be one of the first movers once Qobuz connect is available. Moving to another brand will probably not accelerate you being able to use Qobuz connect. The ball is squarely in Qobuzā court (who have postponed the availability of connect numerous times).
Or is there something else you are hoping to gain by moving to another product?
The gain I am making is having a more user friendly app. Not to blame anybody, but personally I donāt like the Volumio app, cannot get used to it, The Qobuz app or with the app of another streamer brand I have no such issues.
For me the Volumio qobuz part works well. What issues do you have?
easy bet to win
Not being intuitive, making me dislike it, with the Qobuz, or before Tidal, or other apps no such issues.
Not sure if this helps. Any UPnP capable app (mConnect, Bubble etc) should be able to cast to your Rivo if Rivo has its UPnP Renderer enabled.
Some people on reddit report that Qobuz is rolling out a Connect feature as beta. E.g. WiiM has invited some users. For reference hereās the link. Is there anything in the pipeline at Volumio?
Best Regards,
Paul
Volumio is working on it, no ETA yet.
People registered at Club Qobuz received an invite for beta testing, depending on their hardware gear. So itās still in a very early state.
I am also at the window waiting for Qobuz Connect.
Frankly speaking, the Qobuz plugin via Volumio UI will never be as much usable as the proper Qobuz app.
At the moment Volumio is the only platform capable of streaming Qobuz to my system through USB connection (via RPI) at a reasonable cost of software and hardware, though Premium subscription is required.
If Wiim quickly releases a cheap streamer with USB-out and Qobuz Connect and no subscription fees iāll be tempted to move.
The Qobuz Connect plugin should not require the Volumio premium subscription, it should come with Volumio basic, otherwise switching to Wiim will be a no-brainer for me.
You seem to be asking quite a lot for something you are expecting to be free. I want it and I want it now. Maybe review your expectation level?
Minutes before I found this thread i had redacted a list of my main issues with Volumioās Qobuz integration UX. So I created an account to answer your question :
Critical Navigation Issues:
* Lost scroll position on back navigation
* No hyperlinks for artists/albums during browsing
* Limited search results (200 items cap)
Missing Content Features:
* No Qobuz playlist subsections/filtering
* Missing contextual music information
* Limited artist information (single artist only)
* Unclear HD/quality markings
So for now, I use dlna to stream to my raspberry pi (which I find far from ideal).
I also have a playlist specifically created for my listening sessions to which I add tracks from my navigation in the Qobuz native App.
Iām not holding my breath that these issues will get resolved within the Volumio Qobuz app. Probably best to wait for Qobuz Connect. In the meantime I simply mark an album as favorite in the qobuz app and then play it in Volumio (it appears at the top of the list).
I am a volumio premium subscriber from many years, maybe six or seven, and the Qobuz plugin user experience has always been poor, with never any big upgrade. And my expectations of any more improvement are trending to zero. As soon as wiim publishes its qobuz connect implementation, iāll give volumio a couple of months of grace period, then iāll say goodbye
I learned from Volumioās support team that this highly anticipated and long awaited feature may arrive in April.
To me, Volumio combined with the RPI hardware offers a flexibility that Wiim could never match, so I am staying put.
I hope so, Antonix is correct qobuz native is poor Tidal is better but a big mess with double entries.
If you have an active Qobuz subscription you can apply for the Qobuz Connect Beta program. Dunno if they are working with Volumio. Qobuz has been sending SDKās to software companies (specifically BluOs is mentioned).
