Problems after latest update

Hi,

I updated Volumio to the latest version, it’s installed on a Pi 4 4GB, 16 GB SD card, an HifBerry DAC Plus and an Official Raspberry 7" LCD.
3 weeks ago I fresh installed Volumio, the DAC worked correctly but I was not able to make the Touch Display plugin work (a red error box appeared with an error when enabled) but I didn’t care about it since I used Volumio through my mobile phone and the web interface.
3 days ago I launched the update directly from the web interface, the update installed without errors but at the first reboot I had to re-set the screen orientation (I suppose that the config.txt has been replaced/overwritten).
After that the Touch plug-in still didn’t work and now after some time that is playing music from a web radio (not the same web radio but with several web radio) a kind of log screen appears with a kernel error (if I’m correct) and the music repeat on the last “segment” like an old record with a defective track.
What should I check?
Thank you, regards.

Hi,

Every custom addition needs to be entered in /boot/userconfig.txt as clearly stated on the top of /boot/config.txt

cat /boot/config.txt
### DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE ###
### APPLY CUSTOM PARAMETERS TO userconfig.txt ###

What is the exact version of Volumio you’re running, as latest isn’t very helpfull?
Please post a log here when the error occurs.

What we have so far:

  • rPi4 running on SD
  • Hifiberry DAC+
  • Official 7" display.

I can’t tell the exact version at the moment since I’m not at home.
As for the orientation setting: first time I installed Volumio I put the orientation parameter on the /boot/userconfig.txt as stated on the config.txt but it had no effect.
Then I tried with “lcd_rotate” but with no effect too.
Then I wrote it on the config.txt and it worked so I left it there.
Is there a different parameter on the userconfig.txt for the display orientation?

If you run BW (V4.xxx) there is a plugin to configure your display, hence the version ask.

Good to know it !
As soon as I’m at home I will check the version and will report here, thanks.

I reinstalled everything since it was not even booting anymore.
I installed the “Touch Display” plugin and this time it worked…so I’ve set also the screen rotation directly from the plugin settings.
It seems everything is working now, maybe the SD was corrupted, I’ve made a full format (not a quick one) before installing Volumio.
Thanks for the support, regards.
