In version 2 starts to scan and lost. This graph shows the network activity. Do not scan the entire contents of the NAS.
Sometimes a web interface fall off during scanning. Or goes into reboot.
Interesting, could you please paste the output of
sudo journalctl -f
when the scanning stops?

FYI, got the same issue. Had the first version of volumio running fine for ages. Tried the V2 and I loose the network when scanning my library.
First, I lost everything (web interface, ssh, ping. Then I opened an ssh connection before scanning and it kept it opened.

FYI, this is a Rpi B+ with 2A power supply. The I2S Dac has not been activated yet in Volumio V2 but was fin in the V1.
Connection through the library is via samba.
NAS is a Proliant Gen8 with gigabit connection.
Library is about 18 000 files.
The scan did end OK this time. I’m setting up the I2S Dac and rebooting. We’ll see
