Pro-ject DAC box DS2 ultra - playback error

I have Volumio V2.525 on an Hp Proliant micro server (x86) running from HDD, connected to a Pro-ject DAC Box Ds2 Ultra.

I am getting the following error on any media playback(Flac/mp3):
Failed to open “alsa” [alsa]; Error opening ALSA device “hw:5,0”;snd_pcm_hw_params() failed: Input/Output

volumio@volumio:~$ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 5: D20 [DAC Box DS2 USB Audio 2.0], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Any help to resolve is appreciated.

You may want to try the latest dev version from section Volumio Development/ Development talks/ Next X86 and let me know the difference. Because of the much newer kernel, the dev version has better USB Audio support.
Curious to know if this makes a difference.

I believe this is a known issue with a Bug in the ProJect DACBOX DS2 Ultra (This is not the smaller S2 DAC) - if I’m correct, then the DAC requires its XMOS USB software updated.

Confirm, we saw this in the past: just update to latest DAC firmware and it will work

DAC firmware update resolved the issue.
