Powering down a Raspberry Pi

Apologies if this has been answered already. A search hasn’t found anything as yet.

The details for V2 say that the core is a read-only image. Does this mean that the Pi can have it’s PSU switched off without damaging the microSD image?

I have potential problems with other family members wanting to just ‘pull the plug’ rather than go through the shutdown option.

Looking forward to trying V2. The image is writing as I type this…

Yes, altough we still recommend shutting it down properly (some data might not be written, for example your music db or playlist, but this won’t cause damage)
