LCD 20x4 pydPiper - anyone had success with version v3.812?

I am using version v3.812 with a 20x4 I2C (serial) LCD and pydPiper. Using the non-Docker installation (GitHub - cedricp/pydPiper: Test project), the closest I was able to get was the clock display with “No data” shown at the bottom. There are MANY threads on this, but most are 3 or more years old. Thanks in advance for your help.
