Is there a Plugin or Support for a graphical Vacuum Florescent Display (VFD) with a Hitachi like parallel port?
I have some Noritake VFDs that I would like to use as the local display for a Volumeo project I am building. Ideally, many if not all the features from the mpd_oled Volumeo plugin would be available. Any help appreciated.

Check if peppymeter can handle it. If yes, a specific version based of the plugin peppymeter basic could be ok.

Thanks, but these Noritake VFDs have the same digital parallel interface as many Liquid Crystal Displays (LCDs) have. There is no analog input. I’m not sure if they all use actual Hitachi chips or look alike. But almost all are based on the Hitachi HD44780 LCD controller.
These Noritake VFDs go one step further. They are not just alpha numeric but also support bit mapped graphics. So should be a really good fit for a Volumio display.
However, I was hoping someone had already had a go at programming a Volumio driver for such displays. Similar to the effort for the OLED displays.
