[PLUGIN] httpcaller

There is a new beta plugin (httpcaller) under the user interface heading of the plugin store.

A little background first…
My HiFi has many esp32 micro-controllers to carry out various tasks, control the motorised alps pot for the volume, power on/off the hdmi monitor etc.
The main esp has its own (very simple) web page but it is slow to load and with Safari it now takes a couple of clicks to wake up before considering doing anything. As such, what started off as a useful aid has been long forgotten, the remote control taking the leading role.

Now with the httpcaller plugin I can do all I want to do from within Volumio and much quicker than through the esp web page.

I’m not advocating using Volumio to open your garage door or turn on your central heating but - if you are in a similar situation to me, who knows, you might be the one other person that finds this plugin useful!

I have been using it for some time now. It does all I want it to. I have not tried calling anything other than my HiFi and Volumio hasn’t faltered yet. If you use it and it works, let me know.

Hi and thank you for the plugin.
Which Volumio versions are supported?

It’s only available for Volumio 4. If you are uncertain about upgrading (I was until very recently) then I advise you to go ahead - it is worth it!

I notice that the plugin no longer installs under version 4.119, failing the dependency check Volumio version 4.73.0

If I backtrack to Volumio version 4.084 and install the plugin and then up date to version 4.119 all is fine.

Is there anything I can do to correct this?

Best regards.

Has anyone any idea about this? I’ve never had this problem before and certainly don’t know how to go about rectifying it.
Many thanks.

Are you using the new Nova UI? If so, maybe try it with Manifest.

No, no Nova. I’m away from my Pi s at the moment. Will try to get more info but I don’t think there’s any more to get……
