New Streaming DAC Build - Wooden case

Hi there, I have been envious of some of the cool Volumio streamers, so I finally put one together.

I’m not super strong with soldering or fancy power-supplies, so my build is pretty much plug and play.

I used a stack of boards from Ian Canada. His PurePi power supply, the FifoPi re-clocker, his dual mono DAC and an output board. It’s operating with a Raspberry Pi 4 and a m.2 nvme SSD connected by USB for the music library. The PurePi is powered by a Anker 65W power supply.

Now, I needed a screen and a case. So I added the new official RasPi 7" screen and that worked well. Next, I built a wooden case made from ash and stained black. The front panel is bird’s eye maple with the screen mounted flush. I added some clean connection ports on the back and all done.

Then I installed it with my system and wow, the DAC is significantly better than the DAC I had been using previously for Volumio. Further, I think it looks great in our livingroom.

There’s no accounting for taste – some prefer blondes, others brunettes.

A network player based on the Raspberry Pi and Volumio ( open source software ) is a big plus.

You’re not left without support – see the service exclusions for the Pioneer, Rotel, Logitech Music Server, and other devices. Devices with closed software.

You can also use other software on the Raspberry Pi, such as Moode Audio, piCorePlayer, or Daphile. There’s plenty to choose from.

Respect for doing it yourself. Making your own network audio player is the best solution. If it breaks, you replace it yourself. You don’t have to take it to a repair shop. You don’t have to pay for the repair.
