New project - slim 40mm case

I’m trying on a new project based on the RPi 4.
Does anyone have experience with a 7 inch 280 × 1424 LCD IPS display?

I want to fit everything in a 40mm high case:

By the way, I probably won’t be able to fit a linear power supply with a transformer inside (even a flat toroidal), so I’ll have to try with a switching power supply. Do you know of any good switching power supplies with good output filters?

Thanks in advance for any good tips.

Looks interesting… :+1:

Very unusual resolution. Wouldn’t 1280x400 be better?

I do not have experience with that specific screen, but I have build a streamer with a similiar unusual resolution, 320x1480. It takes some fiddling with the config files of the raspberry pi, but between that and the Now Playing plugin with a custom layout you can get it working pretty nicely!

Thanks.
I saw your project. It looks amazing.

Not really. Aluminium housing size is an issue.

Unless you’ve already purchased a case, Czarku.

Honestly, not yet, Grzegorz
Since my first project, which was unexpectedly successful and worked from the first time, I started thinking about something more complex.

This first one is very purist, it’s just an RPi4 + power filter (display for fun, to make something light up), it was supposed to match the DAC visually. Additionally, I found inexpensive linear power supplies for each device. Sonically, a complete surprise, positively of course. I even sold my Yamaha NP-S 303…

Since the day before yesterday I have been testing the Emotiva XDA-3 preamp/DAC, courtesy of a local dealer. It’s a completely different level from the Taga Harmony. And I have this feeling that this DAC will already stay with me for a long time.

To make the long story shot, I want to rebuild and improve my first project because Emotiva needs high quality player (file transport).
The premise is to also visually match the Emotiva (at least a little), hence the idea of a thin housing and minimalist design.
Once I’m at the stage of installing PeppyMeter (which is probably around Easter) I’d be happy to consult you on templates adapted to this slim display, looking at your amazing jobs.
