My journey from LMS to a custom Pi build.
I’m joining the community from the Midlands. I’m at that middle-aged stage of life where I’ve decided to properly dive back into Hi-Fi and get my digital music collection sounding the way it should.
My journey into network streaming started fairly traditionally. I began by experimenting with the Logitech Media Server (LMS) ecosystem to get my digital library organized. It was a great introduction, but it wasn’t long before the “maker” itch took over. I wanted something more modern and flexible, which naturally led me to the Raspberry Pi.
After graduating to Volumio, I realized I didn’t just want a “computer in a plastic box” sitting on my shelf. I’m a machinist by trade so I naturally gravitated to working on a custom enclosure for my Pi, complete with a dedicated DAC and an integrated screen to give it that proper high-end equipment feel.
It’s been a bit of a learning curve (especially the wiring!), but I’m really pleased with how the project has turned out. I’m looking forward to getting involved in the community, learning more about fine-tuning the software, and seeing what everyone else is building.
Cheers!
