still no progress on this feature?
I’ve recently installed Volumio 2 on a Raspberry Pi 4 and I’m very happy with it – great stuff! An ability to browse by year or have smart playlists based on release year or recently added to the library is the only thing I’m missing. I buy recently released music quite frequently so I like to browse my library by release year, reverse chron. If the devs read this, is there any chance of this functionality coming in Volumio 3 or otherwise? Or should I start trying to hack a plugin together myself? Thanks for all your work!
I know that the team is probably busy working on v3 but this feature has been promised for 5 years already
Feb 2023 and still no sign of this feature! If I had the skills, I’d make the plugin for this myself, i.e. at /browse there could be a “Recently Added in Library” … or to be more efficient in the existing “Albums” section, you would be able to sort by “Date Added” as well as the default A-Z order. Any Volumio dev or admin reading this, could you say if this is in the backlog - and if so, when might it come? Thanks
+1, please added newest album added view option
+1, a nice to have feature
1000% A needed feature imo.
Hi Volumio,
you wrote in oct’19 it would be in your roadmap, can you please give a short info when the feature will be realized… THANK YOU
This feature would make Volumio near perfect in my eyes…
Thank you for your work!!!
It was about a year ago when I last looked at this feature request, @volumio can you tell if you’re working on it please - thanks!
Frustrated by the lack of a “Recently Added” feature in Volumio, I attempted to develop a plugin. After several wasted hours, I saw the task was way beyond my skill level due to several challenges. Notably, the MPD database doesn’t store an album’s creation date, which means any solution would probably require scanning connected network drives and storing the results elsewhere. While I’m sure an experienced developer could tackle this, it was too complex for me. Hey but at least I know about MPD commands now
However, in my search for a workaround, I discovered an alternative solution for those of us needing a “Recently Added” functionality. There’s an MPD client for iOS called Rigelian that some of you probably already know. After setting it up with your Volumio server, Rigelian offers a “Recently Added” section in the Listen Now tab, which automatically scrolls through the albums you’ve recently added to your library. Simply press play, and the album starts playing.
However, there’s a catch: Rigelian adds songs to the MPD queue rather than the Volumio queue. This means you lose the ability to control or manage playback through the Volumio web UI, which is a bit of a letdown. While it’s not a perfect solution, it serves as a functional workaround for now.
If the Rigelian app developer can solve the problem for an MPD client app, surely @volumio and the team can solve this …
p.s. the MPD Pilot iOS app also has a nice UI even just using the free version.
