Also I have some Audio-Pro stuff and they communicated that their plug-in will support it without changes as long as the unit itself supports lossless

I’ve been using Tidal (mainly Tidal Connect) but recently switched to Spotify.
I’m mainly interested in Spotify Connect. If I understand correctly, I don’t need to authorize myself in the plugin? What are the advantages of doing so?
Volumio seems to have a problem with the 4.2.2 plugin when paired with two DACs:
- Raspberry Pi 4b 8Gb, Volumio 3.832
- Two different USB DACs connected simultaneously and I’m switching between them.
There was no problem with Tidal (the same goes for the built-in internet radio). However, since I got this plugin, the music either doesn’t play or, interestingly, it plays from the wrong DAC selected in the Volumio settings.
When I physically disconnect one, there’s no problem.

Spotify lossless is now released in the UK (woop!), buuut…maybe Spotify didn’t do a great job…
Will Volumio be able to work around this apparent lack of ‘Exclusive’ mode or is this just a crappy Windows thing that clearly is N/A to a 'nix based OS…?
you do have to authenticate to spotify with the plugin
this is more app side and not stream side and since VOlumio doesn’t use the official spotify app imho it shouldn’t apply to volumio
That’s what I’m asking. Spotify Connect works without problems despite the lack of authorization.
Spotify connect uses the official app to get authorization.
Giving auth in the plugin allows to browse and play Spotify directly in Volumio without the app.
Of course, you need a Spotify account!

I got Spotify Lossless today.
When playing with my Volumio it goes automatically to ”Very High”
I guess it’s a quite easy fix. I also tested with the Google Audio puck and that also works automatically with the ”Very High” setting

As described in the video, it is connected with the audio codecs on the device instead of the Spotify. If the sync rate match then it’s supposed to be real lossless.
Also this vid didn’t test the Spotify Connect feature which is used in conjunction with Volumio
Interesting as I shift to my PC - Volumio reports 44khz 16bit but it is unclear if the output is lossless
The Spotify plugin still needs to be updated to support lossless, I think. You can’t go beyond 320kbps in the settings. 16 bit is not Lossless, I think it should be able to go up to 24.
If you tap on the speaker/receiver icon in the app it will show you information about the connection and will tell you Lossless is not support by the device.

Spotify Lossless is available in Germany now. If you own an iOS device: Right now I have a first teaser playing lossless through AirPlay - and the thick velvet curtain falls. Enjoy and look farward to get the Plugin upgrade!
Most probably using aptX has the same effect.
Nice. It appeared here in Colorado as well. The RPI based streamer shows 44.1/16 but the android app says lossless not supported when checking there. I am not a regular Spotify user so couldn’t tell if it sounds different. Anyway, it will be great to get the Spotify plugin updated to accommodate lossless sometime and if testers are needed, let me know.
Now that we have lossless enabled for Spotify, is there a change needed in the plugin to enable it? I have enabled lossless in my iPhone and desktop apps, removed the plugin and reinstalled, but I still see 320 kbps as the top option in the plugin configuration.
