Hi all,
Wonder if someone have experienced same minor “issue” like me.
My rivo is connected to router wired and the volumio app/browser show 1GBps but sometimes it drop rapidly to 100MBps no lag on the music or sound change only network speed.
So i tried same cable direct to pc when checking tplink router loggin duplex is 1000mbit from wall to router and router to pc same.
Same in/out port is tested.
Can the input port on rivo be damaged or isnt rivo streamer set to run 1000mb/ 1gb/os
The streaming speed doesn’t matter at all. To stream high-resolution video over Wi-Fi, 16 mbit is completely sufficient. The signal strength, measured in dBm, is important. This should be below 50 dBm. You need high data rates for gaming or watching porn.
For me, I could not get the Wi-Fi to work satisfactory, would say it was getting 800mb but I would loose connection to Roon all the time, at the same time I could stream 4K or even more too my Apple TV on Wi-Fi with no problem at all.
So I switched to use solid connection, a cat 6 cable from router to Rivo and since it has worked flawlessly.
We only have DSL at my house, ie. copper wires. I can only get 50 mbps maximum for my whole house. My Rivo+ was unusable with Wifi. I called AT&T and they upgraded my modem and the tech suggested an eero 6+ mesh system. The new modem made a big difference, but, after I installed the eero 6+ mesh system and put one of the eero right next to the Rivo+, I get instantaneous response now and streaming high res from Qobuz through the Rivo+ is almost instantaneous. As far as I am concerned, everything is fixed now with streaming wireless high res through the Rivo+ and I am super happy. The Rivo+ audiophile sound with a linear power supply is outstanding !
I was in the same situation as you however I have now connected my Rivo Plus directly to the mesh access point using an Audioquest Cinnamon ethernet cable. I am not sure if it is better but at least I know if I lose or have poor connection, it is due to poor wifi between two access points rather than between the Rivo and the access point that is sitting next to the Rivo.
Great Suggestion, I just switched to old ethernet cable I had to try a direct connection to the eero node. It is very fast. I ordered a used Audioquest Cinnamon ethernet cable from ebay for a permenant setup. BTW, I plugged the erro mesh endpoint 5 volt power supply to my Shunyata power conditioner/strip. Do you think it is worth it to use a linear power supply for the erro mesh endpoint node that the Rivo+ is using ?
I initially had the same idea as you i.e. running a LPS for my access point because the SMPS that came with the access point might '‘contaminate’ the other power points attached to the same strip. Perhaps the Shunyata power strips have seperate filters for each powerpoint to prevent noise from cross contamination. My Isotek power strip has these filters, however, I am still looking for a reasonably priced LPS for the access point just to scratch the itch.
lol, it never ends… Well, I really like your ethernet cable to the eero mesh node suggestion, so, I bought a cheap used LKS Model:LPS-25-USB on ebay to power the eero mesh node and now I am considering trying to find a nice used cheap power cable for the LKS LPS… BTW, I really love the audiophile sound of the Rivo+ while streaming SACD ripped dsf files from a 1TB microsd card or streaming Qobuz hi-res music. For me it was a big bass, lower midrange, sound stage improvement from my old IPAD air. In addition, the highs sound smoother, less harsh. I think it is a great piece, well done.
