Need help with 8.8" DSI screen on 3.799

I see there was someone else back in 2023 with similar issues but I’m on a fresh install of 3.799.

I got this screen connected and was hoping installing Touch Display plugin would automagically recognize it…it didn;t…

So I follow the wiki for buster, which wants me to install drivers manually:

However, when I attempt to follow their steps, I realize I’m running a different kernel than their latest support:

#Step 2: Enter uname -a on the terminal to view the kernel version, and cd it to the corresponding file directory
#6.1.21 then run the following command
cd 6.1.21

But I do not have that folder…with their latest being 6.6.51 and Volumio is on 6.6.62.

Am I going about this all wrong?

Got it working; no need to “install drivers” nor git clone anything…it still boots with the Volumio logo rotated, but I’ll get around to that later…

I’m using the DSI 1 port, so in /boot/userconfig.txt…just add:

#DSI1 Use
dtoverlay=vc4-kms-dsi-waveshare-panel,8_8_inch

To rotate the screen 90’, I just chose the option in Touch Display plug in.
